Hi, I’m Meyari McFarland.

I’m a writer. I’ve been telling stories since I was a very little girl. My mother likes to tell stories about me making up plays for my little brother using our stuffed animals. Stories, books and writing have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.

For a long time I didn’t share my writing with anyone. I wasn’t confident enough of the quality of my writing to do it. Eventually I began writing fanfiction on LiveJournal and Dreamwidth. To my surprise it was liked by quite a few people. There’s a sort of joy in writing fanfiction and I will always believe that it’s a terrific way to teach yourself how to be a better writer.

However, my own characters and my own stories were still there in my head so I began to share my original fiction as well. That was in 2006. After that, I wrote and shared both original and fan fiction, always learning and growing as a writer. Eventually people started telling me that I should publish my writing and after a fairly large amount of trepidation I submitted one of my stories to an erotica publisher.

To my shock and delight, my story was accepted though the publishing contract fell through after a couple of years. (That story, massively updated and revised, is now available as The Blood of the Artificer Mages trilogy–scroll down to books 13, 14, and 15.)

Collapsed contract or not, that gave me the impetus to begin editing and preparing my other stories for indie publication. You can find them all listed on my Store Page with descriptions of the series and individual pages underneath with links to where you can buy the books in ebook and print. Or ask your local bookstore to get the books for you–they’re available that way, too.

I’m constantly telling stories and writing new things so check weekly for more things to read. Every Monday I post a chapter of a novel you can read for free. Most every Friday there’s a short story you can read for free for one week. And I try to put out something every week so there’s new things all the time.
